FINALLY.

After going through 8 long months of application process, we are finally INDUCTED MEMS of the UP ABM. Ang galing naten, CHAMBER 29.

I even got the Mean Girls Award, and am among the top 10 best apps ( I really don't think I deserve it). As Cams said, "FIRST IMPRESSIONS LAST." Dinaan ko lang sa first impression. I'm thankful, though - and flabbergasted.

About the Bombshell Day, 8 out of 1sn't bad at all right? I'm glad those ladies made it. Nothin really changed, it's just that we ALL got a lot PRETTIER. Hah!

I just love the feeling of getting to spend my own money.

I treated my mom out to Shang. First, we bought movie tickets. Then we ate at Cibo. I had Roast Porkloin Con Pilaf Riso and Strawberry Shake, while she had Roast Pig (Roman Style) with Mushroom and Rosemary Rice and Watermelon Shake. We strolled and bought some Marks and Spencer stuff. Then chilled somewhere near the Moviehouse. After which, we went to see The First Daughter. I so love her gown. The pink one made by Vera Wang. It's to die for. I want to wear it for my debut, if my dad would permit.

But I'd rather have a car than hold a grand celebration.. I don't have an escort, anyway.. Well, sort of not sure. =)

WHAT THE FUCK. Seems like I'm not yet over my one and only ex boyfriend. Focker! I kinda like cried when I saw him in his friendster pic with a new girl. Worse is, it's their anniversary today. Today was extraordinary. Had our Geol 3rd Long Exam. Went to Claret to get Cams' money. Nico's such a B.I., so off we go to Eastwood to dine at Fazoli's. Watched Raising Helen. Window shopped a bit. After that, we were dropped off to Starbucks Katips. Choco Frap for me. Then we craved for ****. So I went out to buy a pack. And tadadada...

I had a whale of a time yesterday. Started the day with a Math 17 Long Exam. No more Philo 1 so I went to NISMED alone. Luckily, Jones came along and we made a lil chit chat, mind you, a lot of fishing. Har har. Damn. Finals pala namen sa KAS 1? Same date ko lang nalaman. NO READINGS. NO NOTES. Patapon MOI.

After our Finals, I texted Anj. Since she wasn't replying, I went to Cams' condo instead. Then we craved for... and went to Starbucks, the place to be. Surprisingly, the gang was there. Am so damn glad to've seen them. I miss them uber much. Really... However, they had to leave. Awww... Cams and I left Starbucks at around 8p, then headed off to her condo. I left her place at 9p.

On my way home, I found my phone ringing. It was Pat Ordo, and she asked me if I wanna "go night-out". I told her I had to tell my mom first. Then I tried to call Lissy. Just when I gave up on the thought of going, Lissy replied and said she wanna go out too. Har har. Ain't it cool?

GB3. I love. From Ice Vodka Bar. To Absinth. To Temple. And Starbucks (as always). Oooh, perfection.

Oh, and I saw the DLSU Green Archers.

Checked Feng Shui at Ewood Cinema, Shang, Rockwell, GB3. Dayyyum, too late. So we went around Valle 1 instead, then off we go to Starbucks Ortigas to chill. Cid was a perfect gentleman. Darn. I can't believe we had classes yesterday. Was dismissed at 1p so I went to UP Music Circle to catch up. Ran home. Went back to "tambay" and submit the Math thingie. I bumped into Cat's blockmate, Mark. I started the discourse. He's good naman pala eh. JAMMED. (Random thought: UPMC's motto is "STUDY HARD, JAM HARDER." Cool isn't it?) After which, I went straight to Cams' condo. Off we go to Eastwood to CHILL. Had a disturbing taxi encounter, the driver looked so bangag so we panicked. Good thing he pulled over. Wednesday - Had two graded debates. Headed off to World Topps to meet up with Cams and Nice. Studied a bit. Pigged out on Starbucks. Studied a lot. Long Exam tomorrow.

Thursday - Long Exam. Hard, it was. Sheeesh. I think I failed. Ran home early. Surprised? I had to SHOP. Any objections? Bought a mini skirt and a pink top from Terranova, plus a pair of stilettos from U by Rustan's. Feasted on Piadina. Yummy food. Dessert time at Figaro. I missed my Li'l Oscar to bits. Off we go to the Moviehouse to watch A Cinderella Story. Oh and, Nika from Music Circle texted me.

I'M IN. UP MUSIC CIRCLE is my 4th ORG. Beat that.

Friday - Regular Class. Was supposed to meet up with Anj and Alds at Katips, but they were kind enough to fetch me. Har har. Munched on Beach House barbecue. Went to Ateneo to sign the surprise birthday card. Saw a lot of peeps there, including Bestie, Peej, She and a lot more. Wasn't able to see him again. Hrmpf. Alds, Anj and I ate Kahlua Cake and Sansrival by Chocolate Kiss, then they dropped me off to Econ. I missed out on our training, so I decided to study at Katips instead. MIDTERMS, MAHN. Studied til 12? I dunno. Uber late, so we slept over Cams' place. KULANGOT JOKES ROCK!

Saturday - Woke up at 7a. Dayyyum. Exam started at 8. Whew. Would you believe me if I say that I found the Midterms easy? It really was easier than I expected. Ran home to change clothes. Caught up on them at Racks-Galle. Played Bowling and Billiards at Skybowl. Had Ice Monster. Went back to Katips. Brought hassle to Alds cos he had to go back to Katips for me. Thanks Alds! Off we go to Eastwood.

EASTWOOD - Surprise party. Purchased dreamcatcher and charms for Ishi, courtesy of Peej and Pat, respectively. There was a slight flaw, cos Alds and I were seen by Ishi even before the party started. Saw Beni, Marie Ann and Ringo.

DAMPA - The FOOD's great. I never ate as much as that in my entire life. FOODTRIP GALORE. Lahat nawapoise dahil sa crab!

STARBUCKS - Fraps for FREE, GHET, EVUHR, MIE... GETS NYO BA?

Bounced at 3a. Whew. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISHI AND JENNY!

Sunday - Went to Mandi's place to come up with a scrapbook. We were all problematic so we went out and watched Now That I Have You. Anong ngini-ngiti mo diyan? Maganda kaya. Munched on Greenwich pizza. Smoked 2 sticks of Lucky Strike. I'M A CERTIFIED SMOKER. I saw Piolo, he's gorgeous by the way. Went back and started doing the scrapbook. Watched Cruel Intentions 3 and Head Over Heels. Hit the home base at 11p.

Monday - Math was a Free Cut. Got 4 out of 10 in our Eng 1 quiz. Dayyyum! Geol 11 was boring.

I cried my heart out yesterday. Mom refused to finance my gimmick. NGUYH! But it's okay. Naawa din, kaya binigyan din ako. *evil grin*

I was with the Bombshells and the Scope Boys slash Sexballs yesterday. IT WAS LIKE THE BOMB! Har har. Anj, Da, Cat and Ishi were all in skirts. OP ako. Pat, Alds, Mico, Peej and RJ were well, the same.=) We also bumped into Ringo Ferrer, Theo Espinosa, Apol Alvarez, Martha Tan, Cacs Velez, Marc Funa, Ms. Catacutan and a lot more. The funniest part was when we feasted on Pizza Hut (Bestie's Treat). There was a "RING THE BELL IF YOU HAD A GREAT TIME" sign. So we lined up and rang the bell one by one. Everyone's eyes were on us. I know what they're thinking. Probinsyanas. Ha Ha Ha. Then off we go to Movieworld cos we were supposed to watch a movie. Since all of the movies started like 20 minutes ago, we settled for Skybowl instead. Oh, and I loved the game "killers" so much. Diba babuy-babuyan yun? Hmpf. Talo ako.

Tita Susan's waiting for Ishi so we've decided to call it a day to keep her from waiting. She asked for directions, cos it's Erica's UPCAT today. GOOD LUCK, ERICA! Then luckily, Peejay offered to bring us home. And we hitched... THANKS-A-MILLION, PEEJ! Laughtrip. You guys made me soOoOoO happy! Thanks for making my day. =)

SICK. BLOODY ILL. SO UNWELL. DARN!

Am happy though. Spent my afternoon with the Ateneo Gang. I was sort of "in the mood" to pay a visit. Ha Ha Ha. Was able to meet up with Anj, Catsky, Ishi, AC, Alds and Peej. Said Hi to Miggy, Martin and Ringo. Ishi's najejebs when I saw her. Astounding as always. Catsky's so dashing in pink. Met her crush, and my thumb's up for him. Anj is getting prettier by the day. And she got so damn wet cos she helped me hail a cab, which ended up with a trike. Sensha na sa abala, Pixie. *mwah*

Sayang, I wasn't able to see HIM.

Was so in a hurry. Left the Ateneo grounds at 3p, to think that my long exam's at 3p. Nitatamad kce ako magexam eh. :p

Gosh, I really want to quit DebSoc. But I can't. I have to push through with it, by all means.

Last Friday, I showed up at the UP Optics Orientation at Eaglestar Condo. I had to sing. Well, I volunteered, to earn points. Okay, so a member approached me and asked for my number. He said that I'm an MC Material. Duh I'm not from MC. So when we were about to go home, he said he was serious about it. He wanted to recruit me to join the UP Music Circle. Huwaaat? Are you nuts? So I said, I don't think I'd pass. You know what he said?

So I joined the UP OPTICS (an org for CAMWHORES like me) as well. Ha Ha Ha. Texted Cams. Went to KFC to meet up with her. Hung out at her condo in One Burgundy for like 4 long hours. First day of training today. Pat was late, didn't hinder us from practicing, though. My assignment? 7 minute speech on "This house believes that we should legalize abortion."

Had a 50 item long test in Philo 1, unannounced, mind you. Define unannounced? Due to the fact that I was out last meeting, my ever concerned classmates didn't even care to tell me.

Earlier, I went to UP Lakan to inquire - take note, INQUIRE, but since the salestalk was good, I decided to push through with my application. Three orgs, my golly. Halleur, and come to think of it, they're all demanding.

WHEN I was little, I wanted what many Filipino children all over the country wanted. I wanted to be blond, blue-eyed and white.

I thought -- if I just wished hard enough and was good enough, I'd wake up on Christmas morning with snow outside my window and freckles across my nose!

More than four centuries under western domination can do that to you. I have 16 cousins. In a couple of years, there will just be five of us left in the Philippines, the rest will have gone abroad in search of "greener pastures." It's not an anomaly; it's a trend; the Filipino diaspora. Today, about eight million Filipinos are scattered around the world.

There are those who disapprove of Filipinos who choose to leave. I used to. Maybe this is a natural reaction of someone who was left behind, smiling for family pictures that get emptier with each succeeding year. Desertion, I called it. My country is a land that has perpetually fought for the freedom to be itself. Our heroes offered their lives in the struggle against the Spanish, the Japanese, the Americans. To pack up and deny that identity is tantamount to spitting on that sacrifice.

Or is it? I don't think so. Not anymore.

True, there is no denying this phenomenon, aided by the fact that what was once the other side of the world is now a 12-hour plane ride away. But this is a borderless world, where no individual can claim to be purely from where he is now. My mother is of Chinese descent, my father is a quarter Spanish, and I call myself a pure Filipino -- a hybrid of sorts resulting from a combination of cultures.

Each square mile anywhere in the world is made up of people of different ethnicities, with national identities and individual personalities. Because of this, each square mile is already a microcosm of the world. In as much as this blessed spot that is England is the world, so is my neighborhood back home.

Seen this way, the Filipino Diaspora, or any sort of dispersal of populations, is not as ominous as so many claim. It must be understood. I come from a Third World country, one that is still trying mightily to get back on its feet after many years of dictatorship. But we shall make it, given more time. Especially now, when we have thousands of eager young minds who graduate from college every year. They have skills. They need jobs. We cannot absorb them all.

A borderless world presents a bigger opportunity, yet one that is not so much abandonment but an extension of identity. Even as we take, we give back. We are the 40,000 skilled nurses who support the UK's National Health Service. We are the quarter-of-a-million
seafarers manning most of the world's commercial ships. We are your
software engineers in Ireland, your construction workers in the
Middle East, your doctors and caregivers in North America, and, your
musical artists in London's West End.

Nationalism isn't bound by time or place. People from other nations
migrate to create new nations, yet still remain essentially who they
are. British society is itself an example of a multi-cultural
nation, a melting pot of races, religions, arts and cultures. We
are, indeed, in a borderless world!

Leaving sometimes isn't a matter of choice. It's coming back that
is. The Hobbits of the shire travelled all over Middle-Earth, but
they chose to come home, richer in every sense of the word. We call
people like these balikbayans or the 'returnees' -- those who
followed their dream, yet choose to return and share their mature
talents and good fortune.

In a few years, I may take advantage of whatever opportunities come my way. But I will come home. A borderless world doesn't preclude the idea of a home. I'm a Filipino, and I'll always be one. It isn't about just geography; it isn't about boundaries. It's about giving back to the country that shaped me.

And that's going to be more important to me than seeing snow outside my windows on a bright Christmas morning.

Yesternight. Phone marathon with Mandee from 6p til 9p. Three ear-burning hours. Nonetheless, I had a whale of a time. Spent the whole day in my bed. I'm not sick. I'm just too damn lazy. I read the 100 page UPDS Applicant's Bible. I don't want Pat to have a hard time training me.

Wednesday is synonymous to "free day". However, I have to go to UP when the need calls for it. And today is not an exception.

As the Externals Commitee Applicants Head, I had to meet up with my co-apps to come up with a presentation for the Acquaintance Party. Woke up at 12:30 when the actual call time was 1p. Made it there at 2p, so damn late. Mike's suggestion is very cool. I uberly like it.

Left ABM at 2:30p and off I go to DebSoc. The moment of truth has come. It's our Extempo day. PUNYETA. I stuttered completely.
Topic : "This house believes that there is no excuse to draw blood for a political cause."
Who says I love politics? 7 minutes of bullcrap. 7 minutes in a hell hole. 7 minutes of slobbering brain. I think I failed. FOCKER.

After the Extempo, I played "squabble" with the members and fellow apps. Kuya Sir + Kuya JC + Kuya Nico + Kuya Kriz = Squabble Prowess. As usual, talo na naman ang beauty ko. Duh? Like I'm in DebSoc kaya. No wonder they're extremely good at it. We decided to run home at around 5:30p. They were kind enough to invite us to watch a movie. Yun nga lang, Liberated 2, kasi daw andun si Tuesday Vargas. He He He.

I've kept my mom waiting for like 6 hours. Stupid me. I failed to give her a ring. Hit the home base at 10:30p, when I was supposed to be home by 5p. Now she's mad at me. MY FAULT.

I am an inconsiderate biatch, MEAN in its very sense. Ha Ha Ha. Well I watched MEAN GIRLS with my blockmates, Camille, Lexi, Nice, Diuvs and Jones (plus Lexi's cousin). Twas fun, I laughed as if it were my last. And have you guys seen the dancing part? DAMN. It reminded me of you know who. BULLCRAP.

Anyhow, I'd like to thank Poppeeeh Jones for showing up. I know how much he wanted to go home, but good ol' Poppeeeh yo couldn't resist my Mommeeeh Camilleee. Naks! Hi Hi Hi. Thanks a million, pop! *mwah*

I was able to say Hi to Maio del Pilar, an online friend, at CASAA. We're now formally friends. Ha Ha Ha. Gwapo na friendly pa, yun nga lang taken. His girl is pretty, though. Also, I got through my 3-minute speech in DebSoc earlier. Gosh, the adjudicator was cute but gay. ;) Marvin Sia + Vannes Wu = HIM. Hafta sleep early, tommorow's my 7-minute speech tryout. It's graded. Wish me luck. :)

I can't believe I spent the whole week in a not so homey manner. Mundane, naaah? Saturday was the UAAP Opening, so I had to be there for extra P.E. points (since I flunked the 1st quiz on scoring). While Sunday was spent with the Infinitum. Twas fun - well every gimmick with them's to die for. *winks*

Today was a tamaditis day. I wasn't able to digest Math 17. Our English class was sort of a free cut, in honor of the centennial year of the great poet, Pablo Neruda. And oh, did I mention that the speech was in Spanish? C'mon, as if we all know Spanish. In short, DI KO NAGETS. Lastly, Geol 11 was supposed to be a free cut but since this 'heroine', who had the guts to pass through the window and voila, opened the allegedly 'locked AVR'... We got a free film rather than a free cut. THANKS MICHAEL!

10th of July, 2004 - Araneta Coliseum. It was my first time, as a full-fledged UP student to witness the UAAP opening, moreso have an alma mater to cheer for. Proud ISKOLAR, I am. It's a bit annoying to get defeated on the first game, though I believe that winning isn't everything. It's just a game after all - a matter of victory and defeat. In the end, I realized that whether we win or lose, come hell or high water, UP's the school I choose. That's the spirit! =)

Just got home from school. Was dismissed at 4p today, but I had to stay for our Friday Club.

Anyway, about the Friday Club, we had a food-slash-costume-auction to get our respective costumes for the acquaintance party. Good thing I got what I wanted. GOTHIC RULES, MAHN!

Also, we got to elect our Batch/Chamber Heads. I was nominated, but I lost by 2 points - got 9 whopping votes, though. Take note, NINE. Kanino ko nga pala ulet number yan? Close fight, that is, but I really think that the position isn't for me. I don't think I can handle our block, ABM and UP DebSoc, all at the same time. Plus the gimmicks, you know. Ha Ha Ha. And the Boys. Hi Hi Hi. =P

I was utterly shy, you know, the fact that I'm not a full-fledged Atenean. Then Peej came, so it was the three of us walkin round the AdMU grounds. Off we go to the gym to visit my bestie, Pat Velasquez and Alds Baleva. There, I saw Jenny's hubby (and my former crush), Marvin Sia. I was tempted to take a picture of him, good thing I didn't - cos if I did, I would've been in such humiliation right now. Also bumped into Gab Sobrepena, Mike Catbagan, Miggy Barretto, Andrew Javellana, Dan Du, Mico Ruiz and the list goes on. After which, I was able to say Hi to Anj Santos. *Dang, I missed that girl*

And OH. I saw TOFFEE. I was in awe when I saw him. Para bang nastarstruck. Hi Hi Hi. OO na. Affected pa ren ako eh. At may kasama pang kilig. SHOOT ME.

I had a fabulous night with my blockmates and other frosh at the Freshie Bangs concert held at the Alumni Center last night. Not only was I hailed as the "MS. HALF-TIME" of the night,*lol* I, together with my blockmates, had a well-planned post-concert sleepover at Nico's place.

I had the most amazing time with my high school friends last Saturday night. It was Tin Paderes a.k.a Bombshell Bubbly's Birthday Bash. I missed Tin so much, that I found myself in awe upon seeing her.

I really had a tiring day so I decided to go online. I was in this utterly inexplicable situation, where all I thought of was me getting pissed all day. Then this friend (I don't know if he still considers me as one) of mine, Alvin Reyes, macked me by saying "HEY YOU.". This guy was just trying to check if I'm okay or stuff like that. But the evil me wasn't kind enough to greet him back in a nice, democratic way. The rest was history. History, meaning, something that must be forgotten. I pity him. Napagbuhusan ko ng galit. I was lucky enough to have my apology accepted by him. *I certainly hope so.*

Well, well, well... Lemmie give you a jist on how my week was...

Tuesday was an ultimate tambay day. Free cut on Math 17, so I went to UP at 10a, got dismissed at 1p, then spent 6+ hours in the ABM Tambio. Some say I'm running for the Best App, but frankly, I had no idea that there was this "Search for Best App" going on.

Wednesday was balanced. Had my DebSoc Orientation from 1p, til around 3:30p; had to leave early due to our Math 17 Long Exam. Talk about Long Exam, you guys wanna know how hard it was? I ALMOST DIED.

POTAENA, DI KO LAM KUNG MAY BRAIN CELLS PA REN AKO.

Anyhooo, to lighten things up a bit, my blockmates and I decided to see Spiderman 2. Nico, Jones, Diuvs, Camille, Jimah, and I were like sardines on our way to Eastwood. Unluckily, tickets were SOLD OUT in all four theatres, so we had to go to Galleria. So there we were, lining up like ants, fortunate enough to purchase ample tickets for the six of us. Jones, Camille and I feasted on McDonald's Cheeseburger Meal, while the rest had Jollibee. I stowed a bit, and before I knew it, I was purchasing this quite expensive bag from Terranova. About S2, I love it to bits. *giggles*

Today was just an ordinary day. And I spent another 4+ hours in the ABM Tambio. 7 more signatures would end all my hardships. Pray for me guys...
